Smart scopes

Unread post by Pete »

The $500 variety appear to be the very best way to capture astro images. We've two that I know of in the club and here's a writeup on the ZWO Seestar written by one of the folks over at Skyscrapers.

The article is a perfect description of the Seestar, Pete. As you know, I've been using mine since late November, and have found it to be an absolute joy.
There have been many nights where setting up a scope for imaging would have been too much of a bother, but with the Seestar I have been up and going in 10 minutes or less.

I have found the $500 ticket to be a remarkable value, considering the amounts of money I have spent ( and am still spending) on astro-imaging equipment in the past.

Along with many other features, Seestar automatically stacks and delivers a finished JPEG image, and stores the FITS images if desired.'
I've included a few here:

I'll be using this on Monday to video the eclipse.
