Messier 99 (M99) St Catherine's Wheel Spiral Galaxy
I am continuing to complete imaging of Messier objects in Coma Berenices. Last night I imaged M99. I knew that clouds would be coming in sometime during the night but I gave it a shot anyway. As it turned out, I was able to image from around 8:45 until just after 1AM. I acquired 120 images (2 minute...

Solar eclipse video
During the solar eclipse I took an image of the sun every 30 seconds for the entire duration. I just finished cropping and centering in photoshop and made into a video. The file is tool large for this forum You can see the video at my website menardastrophotography.com ... under the Solar tab. Roger

Re: Revisiting M81/M82
Pete Looks like some light intrusion in upper left and right .... I know it was full Moon, but Ursa Major should be far enough away. Your stars look really good so I am not sure why the galaxies are not as crisp as they could be. M81 actually looks pretty good so maybe it is the light intrusion that...

Messier 98 Intermediate Spiral Galaxy
I have been wanting to image M98 for some time --- and now is the time of year to do it. Messier 98 is an intermediate spiral galaxy about 44.4 million light years away. It is estimated to contain a trillion stars --dwarfing our own Milky Way. It is one the the most remote blueshifted galaxy, meanin...

Correct ...no filter.
I am surprised that I did not even get any sky0glow from the Moon.

NGC 4490 Barred Spiral Galaxy and NGC 4485 Irregular Galaxy
The Moon was almost full, and very bright last night. I decided to try and image a pair of galaxies in Canes Venatici, since it is fairly far from the Moon. My last attempt at imaging resulted in 'finger-like' smudges on all images (which were processed out using flat frames). I found that the ZWO A...

Tom & Pete
Thanks for your comments.
Pete--- I agree that sometimes astrophotography can be frustrating, but then if it was easy, anyone could do it.

Messier 88 Spiral Galaxy
Finally .... a clear night! We are about 10 weeks into 2024 and so far I have only been able to image 8 times due to cloudy/rainy weather (or full Moon). I did get out last night to image Messier 88. I have been wanting to image both M88 and M98 (both in Coma Berenices) for a while. I don't know why...
